The project is based on the idea that natural forms and sounds move freely across territories and cultures.
The Common Nightingale (Luscinia megarhynchos) appears across Balkan literature, poetry, and oral traditions as a symbol of voice, song, and communication.
In this project, the nightingale becomes a shared artistic gesture connecting artists from different parts of the Balkans. Each participating artist contributes a small sculptural interpretation of the bird that becomes part of a collective installation composed of many individual contributions.
The installation is accompanied by sound recordings from different Balkan locations, photographic documentation from local contexts, and this interactive digital map documenting all participating artists.
Together, these elements form a growing archive of artistic collaboration across the Balkan region.
Each point on this map represents a participating artist's contribution — a nightingale sculpture photographed in a meaningful local context, accompanied by a sound recording and a short text about the location.
